Girls and young women who drink alcohol increase their risk of benign (noncancerous) breast disease, says a study by researchers at the School of Medicine and Harvard University. Benign breast disease increases the risk for developing breast cancer.

Obituary: Stern, pioneering psychophysiologist, 85

John Stern, PhD, a pioneering psychophysiologist who conducted research at Washington University for nearly 60 years, died April 3, 2010, in St. Louis. He was 85.
